Do you struggle with keeping your fridge and pantry stocked with healthy foods? Would you like to know what staples are helpful to keep in your kitchen if you are eating plant-based? In this blog we’ll be looking at 20 essential pantry staples to have if you are on a plant-based or vegan diet.

When eating plant-based, it’s important to keep your fridge, freezer, and pantry stocked with a variety of healthy foods. It’s a good idea to purge your kitchen of junk food, sugary items, processed fats, and other unhealthy foods.

If you keep nutritious foods in your kitchen then there is a greater likelihood that you’ll make healthy choices at mealtimes, rather than simply grabbing what is convenient.

Pantry Staples

Apart from a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms, here are 20 essential pantry staples for those on a plant-based or vegan diet, including refrigerated and frozen items.

Getting Groceries

You should be able to find most, if not all, of these items at your local grocery store or health food store.

Additionally, it can be helpful to keep an ongoing shopping list, and add to it whenever you are running low on something in your kitchen.

Opt for organic groceries whenever possible, and avoid products that contain bad ingredients and those that you do not recognize. Manufacturers can change their product ingredients at any time, so be vigilant and recheck labels regularly

Listen To Your Body

Please keep in mind that everyone is unique, and so a plant-based pantry and diet can look different from one person to the next. The important thing to remember is that going plant-based is a lifestyle change, and you should listen to your body and go at your own pace.

If you want to keep track of your diet and health, you can use our free Diet & Lifestyle Tracker, a 5-day journal. And if you need help transitioning to a plant-based diet, we have a new eBook Going Plant-Based
